REPhRAME partners are active participants in efforts to safely integrate phage therapy into clinical practice in Europe and have helped shape recent milestones in the field, including a new guideline on the use of personalised phage therapy and a phage therapy workshop at the European Parliament.

Bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to antibiotics. One alternative is treatment with viruses that exclusively infect bacteria, known as phages. A research project funded by the European Union and led by Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt is the first to investigate, within the framework of a randomised clinical trial, the combination of phage therapy and restoration of the gut microbiome to prevent recurrent urinary tract infections.
